Doctor Discussion Guide

It's understandable if you're a little shy discussing Overactive Bladder (OAB) symptoms with your doctor. Frequent urination and loss of bladder control are not something many people want to talk about.

If you're one of them, you may think OAB is something you just have to live with. But you don't. And a straightforward discussion with your doctor may be all you need to find a treatment plan that works for you. SANCTURA XR® capsules are a once-daily prescription medication that have been shown to reduce the symptoms of OAB in as little as one week, and with a low incidence of side effects.

Remember, doctors are trained to treat all kinds of conditions. You probably won't be the first person to talk with him or her about OAB symptoms.

Follow the tips below to help start the conversation with your doctor about OAB and to see if SANCTURA XR® capsules may be right for you:

  • Prepare for your visit. Getting organized before your visit will help optimize the time you have with your doctor. Write down a list of topics you would like to discuss. And all medications you are currently taking – including prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs and vitamins or herbal therapies.
  • Be open. Your doctor can't read your mind. That means you have to be as up front as possible. Explain your OAB symptoms clearly and let your doctor know how often they occur and how bothersome they are. Answer the OAB symptom questions and print out the results to take to your next doctor visit.
  • Listen carefully to what your doctor is saying. Repeat what he or she says in your own words to make sure you understand. Don't be worried about looking foolish.
  • Ask questions. If you don't understand something, speak up. Ask your doctor to define medical words or terms in language you can understand. And don't be afraid to ask questions about treatments you've heard of from friends or family or by doing your own research.
  • Follow up. If your doctor has prescribed a treatment for OAB be sure to let him or her know if you experience any side effects and how the treatment is working. If your doctor hasn't prescribed a treatment before, ask your doctor if SANCTURA XR® is right for you.
