OAB Glossary
When you talk to your doctor about your Overactive Bladder (OAB) symptoms and SANCTURA XR®, it's helpful to know some of the terms he or she may use. Words like frequency. Urges. Or incontinence. Use the glossary below to brush up on some OAB basics.
Overactive Bladder (OAB): A condition that causes you to experience strong, sudden urges to urinate that are difficult to resist; make frequent trips to the bathroom; or, in some cases, experience an unexpected loss of urine.
Urinary Incontinence: An uncontrolled loss of urine.
Urgency: A strong desire to urinate that's hard to ignore.
Frequency: How often you use the bathroom within a specific time period.
Urge Urinary Incontinence: An unexpected loss of urine due to a strong, sudden need to urinate that is difficult to resist. SANCTURA XR® is effective in treating Urge Incontinence, which is different from Stress Incontinence.
Stress Urinary Incontinence: An unexpected loss of urine caused by physical exertion on the bladder such as sneezing, coughing, laughing, or exercise. SANCTURA XR® capsules are not approved for Stress Incontinence.
Urologist: A doctor who specializes in the study, diagnosis, and treatment of the urinary tract.
Kegel Exercises: These exercises involve squeezing together the muscles of the pelvic floor and are often recommended to reduce OAB symptoms.
